About Me
Lauren is originally from Ft. Collins, Colorado. Growing up in Colorado has bestowed upon her a love of the outdoors. She enjoys hiking, skiing and generally being outside whenever possible.
Lauren earned bachelors degrees in magazine journalism and art in art history and archeology as well as a minor in music from the University of Missouri. While at the University of Missouri, Lauren has been a reporter and page designer for the Columbia Missourian. As a reporter she has been able to report on a local level. During her time at the University of Missouri she was able to report and design front pages and photo pages for special events. Lauren has also worked for Columbia Home Magazine as an editorial intern and freelance writer, the Jefferson City Magazine as a special project managing editor and Missouri Life as an editorial assistant.
Besides journalism, Lauren enjoys traveling and learning about cultures around the world. During the summer of 2010, Lauren participated in Semester At Sea. She was able to visit Spain, Italy, Croatia, Greece, Turkey, Egypt and Morocco while attending classes on the MV Explorer. Her experiences abroad have helped expand her world view and appreciation for other cultures around the world. She hopes to return to many of these countries in the future.
Lauren also enjoys reading, hiking, skiing, traveling, knitting, playing the flute and dancing. She found ballroom dancing while at the University of Missouri and currently competes with her amateur partner John.
